Hi, I’m Ed Shanaphy,

I am a former marketer and businessperson who, as a member of several private members clubs, sees clubs as a major player in the hospitality industry. However, not always are clubs’ business practices aligned with their role in the industry. Perhaps harking back to earlier and more informal times, clubs aren’t always viewing themselves as a business. I see them differently – they are going business concerns having to offer best-in-class member service while maintaining best-practices on the business side.
People often ask me how I got involved in this business after running a successful global advertising and marketing firm based in London for twenty years. It’s a journey and I hope you have a couple of minutes to read about it.
